About

What is fossevents.org?
fossevents.org is a easily search-able listing of Free and Open Source Software events (live and virtual) taking place across the globe. We hope to be able to provide information on most, if not all public FOSS events taking place throughout the year.

Who is behind fossevents.org?
fossevents.org is a service provided by the Peer-Directed Projects Center (PDPC), a not for profit organisation working to promote Free and Open Source Software development and usage. The PDPC is also the organisation behind freenode, FOSSCON and geeknics and have a few other irons in the fire!

Why did you decide to create this site?
After seeking feedback from groups and projects using freenode, on how the PDPC could improve their services, we realised that this was one of the things which many projects felt would be beneficial to them. A place to find events to go to, be it to exhibit, talk or to visit as a user and a place for events organisers to promote their event.

The project is very much in its infancy, and we welcome your feedback. You can join us for a chat in #fossevents on irc.freenode.net

The PDPCs core values are the four C’s – Connect, Communicate, Collaborate and Create!
