OSSBarcamp is an Open Source themed Barcamp aimed at all levels of interest. Following the success of the previous 3 events, this one is a 2-day event. OSSBarcamp is a free software unconference style of event organised by volunteers who are involved in the Ubuntu Ireland local community.

September’s OSSBarcamp will take place at The University College Dublin on the 25th and 26th of September. The event will run from approximately 10am – 5pm each day. Entrance to OSSBarcamp is free and no tickets are required, but we would appreciate if people would sign up so we have an idea of numbers please.

What is a Barcamp ?

Most formal conferences have the usual people speaking every time; a barcamp/unconference is an opportunity to interact with new and interesting people. You are guaranteed to learn something, but we have no idea what! That part is up to you!

As it is an unconference there won’t be a definitive published list of speakers before the event. Watch this site though, and we might publish names of people who have said they’re planning on turning up and giving a talk. And that can include you!

Who should come?

Well everyone really, there are different levels of talks at the event, and we would encourage lots of Q&A so everyone gets as much information from it as they can.

Why should you come?

To meet more people and interact, and put faces to names. There aren’t that many Open Source events here in Ireland and we should look to change that, by participating and promoting open source events.

What happens? Talks, presentations, demonstrations, programming competitions and lots more. It depends on what you want as you are the audience, speakers and the ones who want to be there. Why not **Register** to come along and take part on the day.

Follow us on Twitter / Identi.ca or on IRC on freenode in #ossbarcamp

Date and Time: 25-26th September 2010 10-5

The Ubuntu UK community and Canonical, the commercial sponsors of Ubuntu, would like to invite you to a very different type of IT event. The Ubuntu operating system for the desktop and server has made significant inroads into UK businesses over the last 5 years. Often it is driven there by the enthusiasm of individuals from the community who use Ubuntu for their personal computing and see the advantages it can bring to the workplace. This event gives those advocates an opportunity to introduce their colleagues to Ubuntu, Canonical, Partners, community experts and their fellow IT professionals. Attendees will learn how Ubuntu is being deployed in the UK and discover how they can introduce or extend this technology safely and effectively within their organisation.

All are welcome, but if you already count yourself as an Ubuntu user, please drag along a colleague who has yet to see the light!
