FOSDEM is a free and non-commercial event organized by the community for the community. The goal is to provide Free Software and Open Source developers and communities a place to meet to:

get in touch with other developers and projects;
be informed about the latest developments in the Free Software and Open Source world;
attend interesting talks and presentations held in large conference rooms by Free Software and Open Source project leaders and committers on various topics; and
to promote the development and the benefits of Free Software and Open Source solutions.

Participation and attendance is totally free, though the organization gratefully accepts donationals and sponsorships.

Skolelinux/Debian Edu developer gathering

There’s again time for a Skolelinux/Debian Edu developer gathering in Norway, and Redpill-Linpro in Oslo have gracefully offered their space to us. The gathering will take place between Friday the 10th to Sunday the 12th, so book your transportation now. We will try to cover a lot of subjects during this weekend, so anyone should find something of interest. As usual this is both a social event and a place to endorse free and open software, so don’t be shy about your own abilities to contribute. Due to safety guidelines and restrictions, the conference room have limited space, so contact one of us to make sure there’s a spot for you as well. Once a year, hundreds of participants from around the globe meet at the central conference of the Wikimedia movement, to create a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

Wikimania is the annual international conference of the Wikimedia community. It’s organized by a different local team each year – in 2011 the conference is taking place in Haifa, Israel. Wikimania allows the community and the general public to learn about and share their experiences with free knowledge initiatives all over the world.

The schedule includes developers’ meetings, speeches and discussions.

PyCon India 2011

PyCon India 2011 is the primary Python conference in India. A purely volunteer effort, it is being hosted for the third time in India, and will attract some of the best Python developers in India and abroad.
The conference will take place at Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, Pune (map) on 16th, 17th and 18th September 2011.
The conference will consist of tutorials, full length presentations, shorter lightning talks and open sprints and BoFs.
