The Ubuntu UK community and Canonical, the commercial sponsors of Ubuntu, would like to invite you to a very different type of IT event. The Ubuntu operating system for the desktop and server has made significant inroads into UK businesses over the last 5 years. Often it is driven there by the enthusiasm of individuals from the community who use Ubuntu for their personal computing and see the advantages it can bring to the workplace. This event gives those advocates an opportunity to introduce their colleagues to Ubuntu, Canonical, Partners, community experts and their fellow IT professionals. Attendees will learn how Ubuntu is being deployed in the UK and discover how they can introduce or extend this technology safely and effectively within their organisation.
All are welcome, but if you already count yourself as an Ubuntu user, please drag along a colleague who has yet to see the light!

The idea behind Open Jam is that it will be a chilled out type of community
event . Where you can work on your projects, help folks if they have
some questions, hack, logs bugs, documentation, translations, whatever
you like the big thing being we get to do it together in one place.
It would be great to have as many people from the different Open Source
communities mingling on the day as possible. So whether your from
php, ubuntu, Debian, KDE, GNOME, Python, Ruby, alt.net and anyone who
wants to come along to do so.

Turn up wearing/carrying something Ubuntu related* so we can easily see who you are, look for the people with Ubuntu stickers/signs (stickers might be distributed if you forget to “brand yourself Ubuntu”) who should be hanging around the foyer and then once people have assembled we can go and wander around. There isn’t an organised tour.
*That doesn’t include covering your kid(s) in Ubuntu stickers and carrying/bringing them along! Children are welcome, but obviously they remain the responsibility of their parent(s)!
